GPE's <a href="http://www.globalpartnership.org/about-us/developing-countries"><span style="color: #127bb8; text-decoration-line: none;">developing
country partners</span></a> have made commendable progress in boosting
girls' enrollment in school but girls from the poorest households, those living
in remote or rural areas, those with a disability or from minority ethnic or
linguistic backgrounds, remain disproportionately disadvantaged in getting into
primary school and in completing secondary.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">There is compelling
evidence that <b>keeping girls in school and ensuring they can learn</b> in
a safe and supportive environment, leads to many benefits for girls themselves,
for their families, for communities and society as a whole.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">However, girls in many countries continue to need support to overcome <b>multiple
barriers to education</b>. These include the distance to school, gendered
cultural norms and practices, school related gender based violence and early or
forced marriage. Boys as well as girls face barriers to getting a good
education, in conflict affected areas where safety and security can be
compromised and in households that depend on their labor or income.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Fortunately, there
are <b>many proven investments that overcome the barriers to gender
equality in education</b>. These include ensuring safe and secure schools,
hiring more women teachers, developing gender sensitive teacher training and
learning materials, providing cash transfers, scholarships or stipends,
awareness-raising campaigns and community mobilization. Investing in in
education and gender equality not only supports girls' directly but also boys
too and their families, communities and future generations.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

As a leading global advocate for the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women, Women Deliver brings together diverse voices and interests to drive progress for gender equality, with a particular focus on maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights. We build capacity, share solutions, and forge partnerships, together creating coalitions, communication, and action that spark political commitment and investment in girls and women.</div>

Women Deliver’s Young Leaders Program trains, elevates, and empowers youth advocates to catalyze action for gender equality, including the sexual and reproductive health and rights of girls, women, and young people. Started in 2010, the award-winning Women Deliver Young Leaders Program is comprised of 400 youth advocates from more than 100 countries, with 300 more scheduled to join in early 2018.</div>

The program provides youth advocates with the training and resources necessary to extend their influence and actively shape the programs and policies that affect their lives through the Women Deliver Young Leaders Program Digital University, Speakers Bureau, small grants, a scholarship to the Women Deliver 2019 Conference, and more.</div>

The time required to participate in the program depends on the individual, but Young Leaders should expect to commit up to five hours per week. The 2018 Class of Women Deliver Young Leaders will participate in a two-year program, beginning in January 2018 and ending in December 2019, after which engagement through the Women Deliver Young Leaders alumni network is possible.</div>

Pearson International Scholarship Program at the University of Toronto is intended to recognize international students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognized as leaders within their school. A special emphasis is placed on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the global community.   Awarded annually, these scholarships recognize outstanding students from around the world, including international students studying at Canadian high schools. This is U of T’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students.  Each year approximately 37 students will be named Lester B. Pearson Scholars.</div>

<li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Apply to study at the University of Toronto to begin your studies in 2018 and complete your application for admission by the appropriate deadlines.</li>
<li style="box-sizing: border-box;">Once we've received a nomination and you've applied to the university, you can complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application.</li>

To be eligible for an Internship, candidates must <b>have an undergraduate degree</b> and <b>be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program</b>
 (pursuing a Master's degree or PhD with plans to return to school 
full-time). Successful candidates have usually completed their first 
year of graduate studies or are into their PhD programs.<br />

Fluency in English is required. Relevant work experience, computing 
skills, as well as knowledge of languages such as French, Spanish, 
Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese are advantageous.<br />

This Internship typically seeks candidates in the following fields: 
economics, finance, human development (public health, education, 
nutrition, population), social science (anthropology, sociology), 
agriculture, environment, private sector development, and other related 
fields.<br />

The Bank pays an hourly salary to all Interns and, where applicable, 
provides an allowance toward travel expenses. Interns are responsible 
for their own living accommodations. Most positions are in Washington, 
DC; others are in country offices. They are a minimum of four weeks 
long.<br />

The World Bank Group Internship is offered during two seasons:<br />

<ul>
<li>Summer Internship (June–September): The application period is <b>December 1–January 31</b> each year.</li>
<li>Winter Internship (December–March): The application period is<b> October 1-31</b> each year.</li>
</ul>

I am an African woman. born and raised in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanzania">Tanzania</a> .
 I was raised by a strong woman that taught me a lot of things. I come 
from a patrimonial society however since my father wasn’t a man enough 
to stay and raise the family he started, my mother did both.<br />
<br />
So from a young age i was taught that men were strong as women were.  
 I was raised by my mother and grandmother and i didn’t lack a thing. I 
went to what was considered a very good primary school in Kenya and had 
my education in private schools.<br />
My mother was the best thing in my life and she passed away in 2003 
.May her sweet soul rest in peace. After her death i was forced to go 
live with my father who then had another woman by his side, where they 
though i knew a lot and they couldn’t stand me questioning a lot of 
things they were used to do and so i was taken back to my grandmother. 
(God knows how excited i was) and so i was in the arms of a woman i 
still look up to.<br />
<br />
Fast-forward to when i went to college, most of the men couldn’t 
stand me. they thought i was too loud  and i spoke out what was in my 
mind too often, some  men were daring and they said i will not get 
married and if i did i would control the poor guy. (i have yet to 
understand why they think so of me )truth be told this doesn’t bother me
 at all. i would rather stay single than be married by a person that 
considers my place to be the kitchen but forgets that his whole life / 
career is focused towards being able to get food that is initially 
prepared in the kitchen.<br />
<br />
<b><i>I have been looked down at several occasions just because
 i am a female human being but i refused to stay there. Whatever little 
chance i got, i used it to prove that i am not less of a human being 
because i am a woman. this has worked to my advantage most of the times 
but i hate and will forever hate the fact that everything i do has to be
 compared to what men do even the definition of who i am.</i></b><br />
<br />
I am so lucky that the only social cultural effect that would have 
affect me basing on my tribe was a lack of kiamba (a piece of land 
usually divided among male ) but this tradition was cut off by my 
grandmother a long time ago and  all of my aunties were given a portion 
of the land that was initially owned by my grandfather (who is also 
resting somewhere in Heaven) . but generally a lot of ladies are 
affected by a lot that is going on through the cultural activities in 
the society like we have the Maasai’s that do practice Female Genital 
mutilations , i have seen girls sent off to be married for three cows 
and so many others (i will write up a post on this sometimes later)<br />
<br />
I completed college two years ago and i have put my strength (not all
 of it) on educating women on the power they have since our society has 
shown them otherwise since they were at a young age. I thought this 
would be like the simplest thing to do but it is not as i thought, it’s 
so hard to change the mindset of people however i am not giving up for i
 believe we can change the world one step at a time , one person at a 
time.<br />
Most of my friends consider me a feminist which is what i am coz to 
me Equality between men and women is Heaven and i can’t wait for the day
 when we can achieve this at only a ratio of 40;60.<br />

<b><i>I however hate the favors that is shown to women, I 
believe that if a man can fix his car tires then a woman should do the 
same and this goes the other way round so if a woman can cook good 
chapati’s then a man should be able to do the same</i></b><br />
